Healthy People 2010
Healthy People 2010 was created by the United States government. It’s two main goals are to improve the quality and years of healthy life and to eliminate health disparities among various segments of the population. It’s focus areas are access to quality health service, arthritis, osteoporosis, and chronic back conditions, cancer, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, disability and secondary conditions, educational and community-based programs, environmental health, family planning, food safety, health communication, heart disease and stroke, HIV, immunization and infectious diseases, injury and violence prevention, material, infant, and child health, medical product safety, mental health and mental disorders, nutrition and overweight, occupational health, oral health, physical activity and fitness, public health infrastructure, sexually transmitted diseases, substance abuse, tobacco use, and vision and hearing. The leading health indicators are physical activity, overweight and obesity, tobacco use, substance abuse, responsible sexual behavior, mental health, injury and violence, environmental quality, immunization, and access to health care.
One of the objectives of Healthy People 2010 I can help meet is to increase the rate of high school completion. I can do this by keeping my grades up and graduating from high school. I can help other people achieve this objective by helping them with their schoolwork. Another objective that I can help achieve is to reduce pedestrian fatalities by being very careful when I walk. I can help others achieve this objective by urging them to be careful when I walk with them.
